Monday mornig 21st. At home Spent this in indeavering to treasure up know[l]edge for the be[n]ifit of my Calling the <day> pased of very pleasantly for which I thank the Lord for his blessings to my soul his great mercy over my Family in sparingly our lives O Continue thy Care over me and mine for Christ sake


Tusday 22d At home this Continued my studys O may God give me learning even Language and indo[w] me with qualifycations to magnify his name while I live I also delived an address to the Church this Evening the Lord blessed my Soul, my scribe also is unwell O my God heal him and for his kindness to me O my soul be thou greatful to him and bless him and he shall be blessed of for ever of God forever I believe him to be a faithful friend to me therefore my soul de delighteth in him Amen

1 Wednesday 23d.  In the forenoon at home studing the greek Language and aslo waited upon the brethren who came in and exhibiting to them the papirus, in the afternoon visited brother Leonard Rich with the relatives of bro Oliver Cowdery had not a very agreeable visit for I found them

Sunday the 21st Feb 1836 Spent the day at home, in reading meditation and prayer— I reviewed my lessons in Hebrew— On this day some 3 or 4 persons were baptised and the powers of darkness seem to be giving way on all sides, many who have been enemies to the work of the Lord are beginning to enquire in to the faith of the Latter day Saints and are friendly


Monday the 22ond translated Hebrew with the 1st class in the morning— returned home and, made out my returns to the county clerk on 11. marriages which I have solemnized within 3. months past 8, by license from the clerk of the court of common pleas in Geauga county Ohio, and 3, by publishment, sent them to chardon by Elijah Fuller— I baptised John O. Waterman. I spent the afternoon translating at with my scribe Elder W. Parrish at his house— at 4. oclock meet, Professor Seixas and the school committee at printing office to make some arangements for the advancement of the several classes

The lower room of the chapel is now prepared for painting–

This afternoon the sisters met to make the veil of the Temple Father Smith presided over them and gave them much good instruction, closed by singing &prayer

Thursday the 3.rd. This day also was spent in Writing & parsing and in administering to the Sick.


Friday 4.th. Th<i>s day also was spent in studying, & writing history, by the presidency. also <a> letter from J[ohn]. E. Page.


Saturday 5.th This day was spent, by the Presidency, in writing for the Elders Journal. Also receiveded intelligence from Cannada, by one br– Bailey. who called upon Pres. Smith, and stated that two hundred Wagons, with families; would probably be here in three weeks. The presidency also attended an address, dilivered by Gen. Willson [John Wilson]. upon Politicks Politicks Political <matters> General Willson. is a candidate for Congress. (he is a Federalist.)


Sunday 6th This day, President Smith. delivered a discourse. to the people. Showing, or setting forth the evils that existed, and would exist, by reason of hasty Judgement or dessisions upon any subject, given by any people. or in judgeing before they hear both sides of the question, He also cautioned them against men men, who should come here whining and grouling about their money, because they had helpt the saints and bore some of the burden with others. and thus thinking that others, (who are still poorer and who have still bore greater burden than themselves) aught to make up their loss &c. And thus he cautioned them to beware of them for here and there they through out foul insinuations, to level as it were a dart to <the> best interests of the Church, & if possible to destroy the Characters of its Presidency He also instructed the Church, in the mistories of the Kingdom of God; giving them a history of the Plannets &c. and of Abrahams writings upon the Plannettary System &c. In the after part of the day Prest. Smith spoke upon different subjects he dwelt some upon the Subject of Wisdom, & upon the word of Wisdom. &c.——
