Biography
25 Sept. 1801–3 Aug. 1866. Farmer. Born at Chestnut Hill, Killingworth Township, Middlesex Co., Connecticut. Son of Levi Redfield and Weltha Stevens. Christened member of First Congregational Church, 21 Jan. 1821. Married first Caroline Foster, 1824. Moved to Vermont, before 1830. Baptized into LDS church. Ordained a high priest, by 8 June 1833. Wife died, 26 Dec. 1834. Married second Alpha Foster, 11 Oct. 1835, in Killingworth Township. Moved to Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, by 26 Dec. 1835. Received elder’s license, 1 Apr. 1836. Stockholder in Kirtland Safety Society. Served as secretary of Kirtland high priests quorum, May 1837. Appointed to Kirtland high council, Sept. 1837. Moved to Far West, Caldwell Co., Missouri, May 1838. Member of Far West high council. Forced to flee Far West, Feb. 1839. Lived at Pittsfield, Pike Co., Illinois, 1840. Migrated to Utah Territory, Sept. 1850. Settled at Provo, Utah Co., Utah Territory. Elected alderman in Provo city government, Apr. 1851. Moved to Salt Lake City, by June 1860. Died at Salt Lake City.
