Biography

4 Feb. 1793–8 June 1853. Innkeeper, farmer. Born in Fairfield, Herkimer Co., New York. Son of Charles Burke and Esther Robinson Bohannon. Married first Abigail Fellows, 13 Mar. 1821, in Fairfield. Moved to Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, by 1823. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 9 Oct. 1830. Appointed to go to Missouri, 31 Aug. 1831. Ordained a deacon, by Oct. 1831. Moved to Clay Co., Missouri. Married second Keziah Keturah Van Benthusen Rollins Bunnell, 22 Jan. 1835, in Liberty, Clay Co. Moved to Far West, Caldwell Co., Missouri, by 1838. Moved to Lee Co., Iowa Territory, 1839. Sustained member of Iowa stake high council, 5 Oct. 1839, in Commerce (later Nauvoo), Hancock Co., Illinois. Signed affidavit detailing Missouri grievances, 1840. Settled in Nauvoo, by 1842. Received high priest’s license, 9 Sept. 1842, in Nauvoo. Migrated to Salt Lake Co., Utah Territory, 1848. Buried in Ogden City Cemetery, Ogden, Weber Co., Utah Territory.
