Area settled, 1803. Township formed, 19 Mar. 1808. Population in 1830 about 2,500. Population in 1840 about 2,800. Included Warsaw village; county seat, after 1841; population in 1840 about 400. Reynolds Cahoon and David W. Patten assigned to travel to area to preach and strengthen church members in township, 23 Mar. 1833.
