Skousen, Original Manuscript, 6–7. About 28 percent of the original manuscript is now known to be extant, ranging from almost complete pages to tiny fragments. Forger Mark Hofmann created several sets of forged documents around 1980–1985 purporting to be part of the original Book of Mormon manuscript, specifically from the book of 2 Nephi.
