The regulations for recording priesthood licenses established on 3 March 1836 required the signatures of an appointed chairman and clerk. As chairman, JS apparently signed a number of blank licenses that were later individually signed and recorded by the clerk and recording clerk on the date listed on each license and in Kirtland Elders’ Certificates, CHL. (Minute Book 1, 3 Mar. 1836.)
