For and in consideration of the sum of Four hundred dollars to me in hand paid by Hugh Herringshaw and Edward Thompson of the County of and state of . I Joseph Smith of the & aforesaid bind myself my heirs and assigns to make to the <​said​> Herringshaw and Thompson a good and sufficient deed, eighteen years from the date hereof, for all that Lot of ground situate lying and being in the County of and State of and described [on] the [plat] of the Town of as being [Lot] No ◊◊ in Block No Eighty.
And for the performance of the above obligation I bind myself my heirs and assigns in the penal sum of One thousand dollars
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twelfth day of April A. D. 1841
