Sunday 17th—— Septmbr was at meeting. gave some directions. & while preachd I took my part as Mayor outside of the assembly. to keep order. & set patte[r]n for the under office[r]s.— after prechig [preaching] gave some instuctin [instruction] ab[o]ut order in the congregation— men among women & wom[e]n among men. horess [horses] in the assembly men & boys on the &c P.M. Mr Blodget th[e] unitarian min[i]ster p[r]eached was gratifi[e]d with his [p. [98]] serm[o]n in gene[r]al— but differd in opini[o]n on some po[i]nts— on which I freely ixpressed myself to his gre[a]t satisfacti[o]n on perscutin [persecution] making the work spread.— by rooting up a fl[o]wer garden or kicking back the sun.
