THIS INDENTURE, made and entered into this Twenty Second day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty-Nine BETWEEN and his wife, of , and State of Illinois of the first part, and of the County of and State of Illinois of the second part, WITNESSETH, that the said parties of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars, to them in hand paid, by the said party of the second part, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have given, granted, bargained, and sold, and by these presents, do give, grant, bargain, sell, convey, and confirm, unto the said party of the second part, and to his heirs and assigns forever that certain piece or parcel of land, situate, lying, and being in the County of and State of Ohio and described as follows, to wit: Being part <of> lot No forty four, in the Town of Township No nine, Range no. nine, in the Connecticut Western reserve, and State of , Beginning at a Stake in the Center of the road, leading from to , at the South West Corner of a piece of land deeded by Jacob Bump to , running east along Sd s South line twenty rods, thence South four Rods thence west twenty rods to the center of Sd road, thence northwardly in the center of Sd road four rods to the place of Beginning, Contaning one half acre of land, Subject to Sd highway TO HAVE and TO HOLD, the aforesaid premises, together with all and singular the improvements, rights, privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging, or in any wise appertaining, unto the said party of the second part, and to his heirs and assigns forever, free from the claim or claims of themselves, their heirs, or assigns, and from the claims of any and every other person or persons claiming the same by, through, or under them or either of them. And the said parties of the first part, for themselves, their heirs, executors and administrators, covenant with the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns, that they are lawfully seized of the above described premises, that they have good right, full power, and lawful authority, to sell and convey the same, and that the above described premises are clear and free of all encumbrances: And that they will WARRANT AND FOREVER DEFEND the title thereto, and hereby conveyed, against the lawful claim or claims of all and every person or persons claiming the same whomsoever.

This day personally appeared before me an acting justice of the peace within and for the aforesaid and Polly [his] wife whose signatures appear to the foregoing deed and who are [per]sonally known to me to be the persons described in and also executed the same, [who] acknowledge the said deed to be their free act and and deed for th[e us]es and purposes therein mentioned and expressed And the said Pol[ly] Johnson being made acquainted with the contents of said coveyance [illegible] and examined, seperate and apart from her acknowledged tha[t she] relinquished her Dower to the premises therein, conveyed freely volu[ntar]ily and without compulsion of her
