Baptized into LDS church. Ordained an elder, 28 Oct. 1837, in Columbiana Co., Ohio. Ordained a high priest, 18 Feb. 1838, in Columbiana Co. Moved to Daviess Co., Missouri, by 1838; to Commerce (later Nauvoo), Hancock Co., Illinois, by 1839; to Quincy, Adams Co., Illinois, by 1840; and back to Nauvoo, by 1841. City recorder and clerk of municipal court, 1841–1843. Appointed war secretary in Nauvoo Legion, Mar. 1841. Served as church clerk, 2 Oct. 1841–30 July 1843, in Nauvoo. Member of Nauvoo Masonic Lodge. Clerk of high priests quorum and war secretary of Nauvoo Legion, 1842, in Nauvoo. Elected notary public, 26 Sept. 1842. Served mission to Ireland, 1843. Served as district clerk of Pottawattamie Co., Iowa, 1848–1851. Moved to Sacramento Co., California, by 1860. Joined RLDS church, by 1876. Died in Sacramento, Sacramento Co.
