Be it remembered, that on the eleventh day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine, of said destrict, hath deposited in this office the title page of a book the right whereof he claims as author, in the words following to wit: “A brief history of the Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints (commonly called Mormons) including an account of their doctrine and disc[i]pline with the reasons of the author for leaving the church. In conformity with the several acts of Congress for the encouragement of learning by securing the copies of Maps Charts and books to the authors and proprietors of such copies during the times therein mentioned and extending the benefits thereof to the acts of designing engraving and etching historical and other prints
