Joseph Smith Papers Website Gets an Update

Along with the latest content releases on the Joseph Smith Papers website, we have redesigned our homepage to help first-time visitors and longtime researchers find relevant information more quickly. The search function is still front and center, and you can still dive right into the various series with the Browse the Papers buttons on the left. New additions include prominent links to some of our most-visited content. To support the Come, Follow Me curriculum of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2021, we have provided resources to aid study of the Doctrine and Covenants. These aids include an article pointing to the earliest existing version of each section of the Doctrine and Covenants (with a thorough historical introduction to each), explanations and videos of how the book came to be, links to all the accounts of the First Vision, and a guide to other study resources published by the Church History Department.

Further down the redesigned homepage is a new feature we’re calling the document mosaic, which gives visitors a snapshot and short explanation of some of the more interesting and lesser-known Joseph Smith documents. We will change these out periodically to help returning visitors discover something new.

Sharp-eyed visitors will also notice changes to the website color scheme and fonts.

We are grateful to our colleagues in the Church’s Information and Communications Services Department and Publishing Services Department for helping design and implement these updates, and we hope they make for a better user experience on josephsmithpapers.org.
