part includes correspondence with the church in , most of which was written in response
to the outbreak of violence against church leaders and members and the demands made
upon them to leave . JS wrote a personal letter
to , a church member who had recently donated a large sum to the church
and had arrived in Missouri just before the violence erupted. Some of the documents
in this part also represent the continuing efforts of JS and other church leaders to
plan for church growth and development in both Missouri and , Ohio.
