JS and Hyrum Smith Imprisoned in Carthage

JS and brother Hyrum Smith surrendered to authorities in Carthage, Illinois, and posted bail for riot charges; charged with treason; ordered by Justice of the Peace Robert Smith to be held without bail until 29 June, pending appearance of Francis M. Higbee as material witness. John Taylor and Willard Richards remained with the Smiths in jail.
