“The State of Ohio, ss. [scilicet] In Common Pleas after April Term AD 1838. And now comes the said by & his Attornies and defends when &c. and says that he does not owe the said sum of money in said declaration mentioned nor any part thereof in manner and form as the said hath thereof above declared against him and of this he puts himself up &c.
