Biography

5 July 1790–11 Jan. 1869. Farmer. Born in New York. Son of Laban Landon and Betsy Gilless. Married Ruby Chapin, before 1821. Moved to Berkshire, Broome Co. (later in Tioga Co.), New York, by 1820. Member of Methodist church. Moved to Troy, Bradford Co., Pennsylvania, by 1826. Moved to Union, Tioga Co., Pennsylvania, after June 1830. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, before April 1832. Served mission to Genesee, Fayette Co., New York, April 1832. Ordained a high priest, by Dec. 1833. Served as president of church branch in Genesee. Excommunicated, 31 Dec. 1833. Moved to Cooper Co., Missouri, by 1840; to Pettis Co., Missouri, by 1850; and to Heath’s Creek Township, Pettis Co., Missouri, by 1860. Joined Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, by Oct. 1866. Likely died in Pettis Co.
