Biography

ca. 1790–ca. Feb. 1859. Soldier, farmer. Born in Virginia. Son of John Jarvis. Family migrated to Woodford Co., Kentucky, 1793. Family moved to what became Monroe Co., Illinois, 1796. Moved to what became St. Clair Co., Illinois. Served in Illinois state militia and in Black Hawk War. Helped settle Rochester, Sangamon Co., Illinois, 1818. Moved to Warren Co., Illinois, ca. 1829; to Oquawka, Henderson Co., Illinois, by 1850; and back to Warren Co., by May 1856. Died in Henderson Co.
