19 Mar. 1801–26 Feb. 1889. Born in Litchfield, Litchfield Co., Connecticut. Daughter of John Benton and Sarah Bradley. Raised Presbyterian. Married Lyman Wight, 1823, in Henrietta, Monroe Co., New York. Moved to Genesee Co., New York, 1823. Moved to Warrensville, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio. Baptized into Sidney Rigdon’s congregation, Aug. 1829. Moved to Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, Feb. 1830. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 14 Nov. 1830, in Kirtland. Moved to Jackson Co., Missouri, Sept. 1831; to Clay Co., Missouri, 1833; to Caldwell Co., Missouri, 1837; to what became Adam-ondi-Ahman, Daviess Co., Missouri, 1838; to Quincy, Adams Co., Illinois, 1839; to Augusta, Lee Co., Iowa, Territory, Aug. 1840; and to Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois. Traveled to New York with husband and two small children, 1842–1843. Accompanied husband while he led Latter-day Saints procuring lumber in Wisconsin Territory, 1843–1844. Moved to Republic of Texas with group led by her husband, 1845. Lived in Llano Co., Texas, by Sept. 1858. Baptized into Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 27 Aug. 1865, in Bandera, Bandera Co., Texas. Lived with daughter Anna in Galland’s Grove, Shelby Co., Iowa, by 1870. Lived with son Orange near Oakdale, Antelope Co., Nebraska, by 1885. Buried at Greeley, Holt Co., Nebraska, 1889.
