Biography

9 July 1825–7 Sept. 1862. Teacher, physician, politician, military officer. Born in New Hartford, Litchfield Co., Connecticut. Son of Chauncey Seymour and Harriet Spencer. Family moved to Ashtabula Co., Ohio. Resided at Morgan, Ashtabula Co., by 1840. Appointed resident physician of U.S. Marine Corps hospital in Cleveland, early 1850s. Moved to New Lisbon, Columbiana Co., Ohio, by 1854. Married Lucretia Robinson, 11 May 1854, in Columbiana Co. Moved to Omaha, Douglas Co., Nebraska Territory, 1857. Represented Douglas Co. in Nebraska territorial legislature, 1859 and 1862. Served as surgeon in Civil War, 1862. Died in Helena, Phillips Co., Arkansas, during Civil War service. Buried in Grove Hill Cemetery, Hanoverton, Columbiana Co.
