Biography

30 June 1788–ca. 1860. Lumber dealer, miller, postmaster, physician, merchant. Born in Wendell, Hampshire Co., Massachusetts. Son of Caleb Boynton and Sarah Flagg. Moved to Worcester, Otsego Co., New York, 1795. Moved to Madrid, St. Lawrence Co., New York, 1806. Moved to Guilford, Chenango Co., New York, 1814. Studied medicine at Fairfield Medical College in Fairfield, Herkimer Co., New York. Married Sepha Stowell, ca. 1818, in Bainbridge, Chenango Co. Served as surgeon’s mate in 133rd Regiment for Chenango Co., 1818. Member of Presbyterian church. Resided at Bainbridge, by Aug. 1820. Elected trustee of South Bainbridge Presbyterian Society, 7 Feb. 1825. Moved to Southport, Tioga Co., New York, 1834. Served as Southport town clerk. Moved to Elmira, Chemung Co., New York, 1839. Lived with his son in Southport, 1860.
