Richards, Sarah Griffith
Biography
26 Dec. 1802–7 June 1892. Painter, governess. Born in Monmouth, Monmouthshire, Wales. Daughter of David Griffith and Mary Stead. Moved to London, by 1820. Attended finishing school in Belgium and France, ca. 1821–1826. Returned to England and worked as a governess. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 22 July 1842. Immigrated to Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois, Nov. 1843. Married Levi Richards, 25 Dec. 1843, in Nauvoo. Moved to Winter Quarters, unorganized U.S. territory (later in Omaha, Douglas Co., Nebraska), Feb. 1846. Served mission to England with her husband, 1848–1853. Arrived in Salt Lake Valley, fall 1853. Died in Salt Lake City.
