1761–31 Oct. 1842. Rabbi. Born in London, England. Son of Rabbi Hirsch Levin Berliner. Moved with father to Halberstadt, Province of Saxony, Prussia (later in Germany), 1765. Married, ca. 1778. Became chief rabbi of Prenzlau, Province of Brandenburg, Prussia (later in Germany), 1793. Returned to London, by 1802, where he was chief rabbi of German and Polish congregations of Jews in London, 1802–1842. Died in London.
