Perkins, Ute, Sr.
Biography
15 July 1761–11 Mar. 1844. Born at Anson Co. (later Lincoln Co.), North Carolina. Son of Robert Biggan Perkins and Elizabeth Lollar. Served in American Revolution, 1778–1779. Moved to what became Abbeville Co., South Carolina, 1779. Married Sarah (Sally) Gant, 15 July 1781, at what became Asheville, Buncombe Co., North Carolina. Moved to Pendleton Co. (later Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens counties), South Carolina, 1791; to what became White Co., Tennessee, 1796; and to Morgan Co., Illinois, by 1826. First permanent settler of what became Fountain Green, Hancock Co., Illinois, 1826. Member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, by June 1839. Died at Nauvoo, Hancock Co.
