Summary

Post village located about 190 miles northeast of Jefferson City. Temporary county seat. Population in 1843 about 75. Daniel Avery, who was kidnapped by group of Illinoisans and Missourians and taken to Missouri to face charges of horse theft, examined and held under guard in Waterloo, Dec. 1843.
