Acknowledgment
Summary
A declaration by the grantor in a transfer of ownership or interest in property to a competent officer that a legal instrument is the grantor’s own act or deed and seeking it to be recorded as such. The legal officer’s certificate on the instrument that such a declaration has been made is also called an acknowledgment.
