KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, That I Joseph Smith of the county of and State of Illinois am held and firmly bound unto Stephen Foot of tke county of and State of Illinois his— heirs and assigns in the sum of Eight hundred— dollars for the payment of which well and truly to be made we I bind ourselves myself, our my heirs, executors and administrators, firmly by these presents.
NOW THE CONDITION OF THE ABOVE OBLIGATION IS SUCH, that whereas, the said Joseph Smith have has this day sold unto the said Stephen Foot a certain lot of ground situated, lying and being in the county of and State of Illinois, and described on the plat of the Town of as being Lot No. one in Block No. One hundred of and three and received in payment for said lot Three notes of hand bearing even date herewith, for the sum of [blank] dollars, and payable as follows.
The first for $225 on the first of April A. D. 1844
The second for $75. on the first of April A. D. 1846
The third for $50 on the first of April A. D. 1848
with The interest for each and every note to be paid annually.
Now if the said Stephen Foot his heirs, executors, or administrators shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid, the amount of said notes with such interest as may accrue thereon, according to the tenor and effect thereof, when due, I the said Joseph Smith bind myself my heirs, executors and administrators, to make or cause to be made, a good and sufficient Deed for the above described lot and then this Bond to become null and void, otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue.
Given under my hand and seal this 1st day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty
