Coun. feels more interested in the building of the and and the western mission than every thing else. He feels that they are more important than any thing else. As to means he knows we are not deficient, neither shall we be. We shall have means just according as we enlarge ourselves in the work. He believes he can raise ten thousand dollars in for the benifit of these buildings. His whole mind and the minds of his brethren are on these three things. We can carry the whole of them on at the same time as easily, as to take only one of them. He knows we can carry it out just as easy as he can throw his cane. There [p. [177]]

Kimball, Brigham Young, and other church leaders visited Macedonia, Illinois, the home of several hundred Latter-day Saints, in late February 1845. The Saints at Macedonia had given generously to the temple committee. In December 1841 several members gave Brigham Young over $600 worth of goods for the committee.
