This Indenture, made this twenty Eighth day of September in the Year of Our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and forty three Witnesses. That Israel Coe of Lorrington in the County of Litchfield and State of Connecticut Attorney in fact of Elizar B. Smith and Alma Smith wife of Said Elizar B. Smith of the County and State aforesaid party of the first part in consideration of the Sum of three hundred and fifty Dollars paid by Philo A. Goodwin of the County of and State of Illinois party of the Second part, the Receipt of which is hereby acknowledged has Granted Bargained, and Sold and by these Presents do Grant Bargain Sell, convey and confirm unto the said party of the Second part his heirs and assigns forever, a, certain tract of Land known and described as The North East Quarter of Section Twenty Eight of Township Seven North in Range Eight West of Fourth Meridian in Said County of it being Same land Patented to Diantha Bisell legitimate heir at law of Charles Bitsell deceased and containing 160 acres more or less To have and to hold the Said premises with all the appurtenances thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining to the only proper use benefit and behoof of the Said party of the Second part his heirs and assigns forever. And the Said party of the first part Covenants with the party of the second part, his heirs and assigns That he is lawfully seized in fee of the Said premises and has a good Right to convey the same that they are free from all encumbrance except tax titles and tha[t] for the consideration above named the title thereof to the said party of the Second part his heirs and assigns, against all lawful claims Whatsoever will forever warrant and defend Except against tax titles and incumbrances for taxes

Voluntary act and deed for the purposes therein expressed
