This is a first part of a copy of the fifth volume of a six-volume manuscript history of the church (JS History, 1838–1856, vol. E-1), and covers the period from 1 to 19 July 1843. The copy also comprises four other volumes, labeled A-2, B-2, C-2, and D-2, and continues through 19 July 1843. The copy was discontinued 6 Aug. 1856 “by the advice of President ” (JS History, 1838–1856, vol. E-2, p. 83).
