Sec. 1. Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of , that any Person or Persons who shall at any time hereafter, bring into, and desire to Exhibit within this Corporation, any Curiosities of Nature or Art, not inconsistent with decency, or contrary to good Morals, shall previously to the Exhibition thereof, procure a License for that purpose from this Corporation, Signed by the Mayor, and Countersigned by the Recorder, for which he she or they shall at the time of Obtaining the same, pay a Sum not exceeding Fifty Dollars, at the discretion of the Mayor, with a Fee <​of one Dollar [illegible]​> to the Recorder, for making out the same, and the said License shall continue in force for one week, and no longer; And such Person or Persons as aforesaid, who may be found in open violation of this Section, shall forfeit and pay for each and every such offence, or sum not exceeding Fifty Dollars.

Sec. 2. That all Exhibitions inconsistent with decency, or contrary to good Morals, are expressly prohibited under the Penalty of one hundred Dollars for every offence, and said Penalties are to be recovered <​and applied​> in the same manner, as are penalties of a like nature within this .
