Know all men by these presents that we as principal and Baldwin L. Samuel, John Wilson <​Jr & Ambrose Bryant, & Isaac D McComsey​> as security, are held and firmly bound unto James Campbell, Sheriff of in the State of Illinois in the sum of Four hundred dollars lawful money of the , for the payment of which well and truly to be made we bind ourselves our heirs & assigns firmly by these presents Signed, Sealed, & dated this first day of July A. D. 1843.
The condition of this obligation is such, that whereas Joseph Smith has lately sued out of the Circuit Court of the County of , a certain writ of in a certain plea of against and , returnable to the next term.— of the said court to be holden at on the second Monday of September next. Now if the said shall be and appear— at said Court to be holden at on <​the​> second Monday of September next, and in Case the said B. L. Samuel, J. Wilson jr. and Ambrose Bryant <​ & I. D. McComsey​> shall not be received as bail in the said action, shall put in good and sufficient bail, which shall be received by the plaintiff or shall be adjudged sufficient by the court, or the said B. L. Samuel J. Wilson jr. and Ambrose Bryant <​& I. D. McComsey​> being accepted as bail, shall pay and satisfy the costs and condemnation money which may be rendered against the said in the plea aforesaid or surrender the body of the said in Execution in case the [p.
