Cowdery, Lyman
Biography
12 Mar. 1802–22 Apr. 1881. Lawyer, probate judge. Born at Wells, Rutland Co., Vermont. Son of William Cowdery and Rebecca Fuller. Older brother of Oliver Cowdery. Married Eliza Alexander, 20 Apr. 1825. Served as probate judge in Ontario Co., NY, mid-1830s. Moved to Kirtland, Lake Co., Ohio, by 1838. Practiced law in Kirtland, 1838–1846. Moved to Elkhorn, Walworth Co., Wisconsin Territory, by 1847. Law partner with brother Oliver, 1847–1848. Elected two terms in Wisconsin state legislature. Died at Elkhorn, Wisconsin, 22 Apr. 1881.
