on the 21st. day of June 1844 Came before me Clerk of the Mayors Court, James Cleft [Clift]. and after being duly sworn deposeth and saith that a party of men coming from Appenoose [Appanoose] to the big mound <on the road came upon the big Mound> And fired one gun at two latter day Saints at some distance from them, about three oclock this afternoon
