Coun. suggested the propriety of urging the people at the conference to support the papers, and urge them to make remittances in advance that the business may sustain itself, and they not be under the necessity of borrowing money. He is willing to use his influence to urge the people to sustain the paper.
said he had not mentioned this subject by way of complaint, for he never intends to complain. They inhabitants of this are poor and cant get money, yet they want the papers and he cant refuse them. He believes the people would do if they could.

In its summary of the April 1845 conference of the church, the Nauvoo Neighbor reported that Hyde “gave an excellent discourse in which he took occasion to call upon the Saints, to come out like valiant men and women and sustain the Times and Seasons, and Neighbor at Nauvoo, by subscribing and paying in advance for papers.” (“The Conference,” Nauvoo Neighbor, 16 Apr. 1845, [2].)
