necessary means so that the brethren can be ready to start on thursday. After which a conversation was entered into relative to the articles necessary for the outfit.
arose to suggest the propriety of having a committee appointed to examine all writs which may come into to be served on the brethren. There is a feeling in the breasts of this people against writs of every kind, and he considered it would be well to adopt measures to keep down all appearances of hostility to officers as much as possible. He thinks if some man could be appointed to examine writs it may tend to prevent excitement.
also made some remarks concerning the conduct of the officer who came in yesterday to serve subpoena’s.
