Following this paragraph, Laub included a series of definitions of biblical names as well as a short narrative regarding Nimrod and the tower of Babel drawn from Flavius Josephus’s Antiquities of the Jews. In addition to the material drawn from Josephus, Laub included a paragraph, drawn from an unknown source, that referred to the city of Enoch, explaining that the tower of Babel was built to reach that city. These entries do not appear to be part of JS’s 12 May 1844 discourse. (Laub, Reminiscences and Journal, 23–25; see also Josephus, Works of Flavius Josephus, 25–27, 29–30, 34–35, 40, 42.)
