22 Saturday met as usual and <after instructions> was dismissed untill 6 o’clock P.M. and met again accordingly
Gen Smith recieved the gun powder letter and assembled City council and enjoined on all present to carry out his views and never give up his our arms, which was irrevocable, city council met next Gen Smith gave orders for as C M to purches all the cloath that there was in the several stoers for to make tents for the Leagon he also gave orders for the to be fortified fourthwith and that caus the regiments <of the 2 cohort> turn out the nex day in turn 3 or 4 hours apieace with intrenching tools
Joseph Genr Smith allso gave orders that a Standard must be prepared to raise to the Nations it was prepaire. [p. [12]]
