The <​Select​> Committee to whom was referred the Bill relative to Writs of &c, brought forward the Bill, which was Accepted, it was then Ordered to a reading as amended, & was read accordingly, discussed, & amended, & the usual proceedings had thereon, the Bill passed, entitled “An Ordinance regulating the proceedings on Writs of Habeas Corpus.”

The Bill for regulating the Fees and compensation of the Municipal Court, & other Persons, which had been laid upon the Table, was taken up, & upon motion, again referred to the Committee, to whom it was before referred, for their reconsideration, & that they include the duties & Fees of Notary Public, therein. to wit Aldermen , , & .—

, , & were appointed a select Committee to prepare a Code of Criminal Laws.

, , & , were appointed a select Committee to prepare a Law regulating the pay of the night Watch.

, , & were a committee appointed to prepare a Law for the election of City Council in future.

The was instructed to examine the Account presented by the , respecting the State of the City Revenue, and Report thereon.

The Assessor & Collector is hereby required to lodge all Funds received by him for City Taxes, & now in his Hands, with the , & lay a statement of the Arrears due [p. 47]
