Be it remembered, that on the ninth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty two, personally appeared before me Clerk of the <​Municipal Court​> Alderman, and one of the Justices of the peace in and for said City, and acknowledged himself to owe the People of the State of the sum of two hundred Dollars, to be levied of his Goods and Chattels, Lands, and Tenements, if default be made in the Condition following to wit:
The condition of this Recognizance is such, that if the above bound shall keep the peace, and be of good behaviour for the space of Six Months from the third day of December one thousand eight hundred and forty two, towards the Citizens of the generally, and especially towards Joseph Smith the now Mayor of said , then this Recognizance shall be void, otherwise to be and remain in full and virtue in Law.
