Hyde, Heman Tilton


18 June 1812–26 May 1842. Born at Strafford, Orange Co., Vermont. Son of Heman Hyde and Polly Wyman Tilton. Moved to what became York, Livingston Co., New York, 1812. Moved to Freedom, Cattaraugus Co., New York, 1825. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by JS or Parley P. Pratt, 11 Mar. 1834, at Freedom. Participated in Camp of Israel expedition to Missouri, 1834. Married Eunice Sawyer, 13 Oct. 1835, at Freedom. Moved to Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, Feb. 1836. Stockholder in Kirtland Safety Society. Attempted to migrate to Far West, Caldwell Co., Missouri, but compelled by mob action to settle in Quincy, Adams Co., Illinois, 1838. Died at Payson, Adams Co.
