On the 7th day of August 1841 Brigadier General died beloved and lamented by his numerous friends both as a citizen and a military commander
On the 4th day of September 1841 Colonel (was elected Brigadier General of the Second Cohort to fill the vacancy of General decd and Lieutenant Colonel was elected Colonel in the place of promoted and Major was elected Lieutenant Colonel in his place and Captain was elected Major in his place)
On the 11th day of September 1841 the was called out for General parade (in conformity with a special act of the Court Martial and was reviewed by Lieutenant General Joseph Smith who delivered a Military speech to the troops in his usual and energetic stile.

The official returns of the Legion now showed the aggregate to be 1490 men—)

On the 2nd day of April 1842 the Fourth Regiment (<of> Sicond Cohort <of the Nuvoo Legion> was organized and was elected Colonel and Lieutenant Colonel and Major of the same consisting of 4 companies,)
On the 7th day of May 1842 the Legion was called out for general parade by virtue of the above order and reviewed by Lieutenant General Joseph Smith [p. [3]]
