On the 3rd day of August 1842 Brigadier General was elected Major General of the to fill the vacancy of Major General Cashired
On the 23d day of Sepember 1842 (Colonel was elected Brigadier General of the first Cohort Nauvoo Legion to fill the vacancy of promoted.
On the 24th day of Sept 1842 (the Legion was called out for general parade. General Joseph Smith being absent because of a writ from being out against him, the Legion was reviewed by and in the evening Lieutenant Colonel was elected Colonel of the first Regiment first Cohort to fill the place of Colonel promote[d] and Cattain elected to fill his place and <Captain> to fill the place of Decd)
On the sixth day of May 1843 the Legion was called out to parade on the Prairie three miles from the Temple on a beautiful parade ground the Legion made a splendid an[d] imposing appierance it was reviewed by Lieutenant General Joseph Smith who made a very appropriate speech on the occasion in his usual Eloquent & and energetic site recuring to the difficulties w[e] had passed through and the happy advancement of the Legion in military knowledge, the fair prospects before us of soon being able to defend ourselves &c.
On the 10th day of June 1843 the Court Martial ordered an arsnal to be built in the City of for the security of the public ar[ms] at the suggestion of [p. [5]]
