be, and is hereby appointed to regulate the collection of fines, and that he be authorized to appoint as many Collectors as he may deem proper, who shall be subject to his order and controll, and that all warrants be directed to him for that purpose and that he be required to take bonds <​with​> approved security not exceeding two hundred dollars for each warrant which is put into this <​the​> hands of any collector, and that he be required to give bonds with approved security to the Paymaster General of the Legion to the amount of two thousand dollars.

“To the Honorable Court Martial of the Nauvoo Legion assembled.
We, your Petitioners (Musicians of the 2nd Division of the music) feeling it a duty we owe to the Nauvoo Legion and also to ourselves, would respectfully present for your the consideration of your Honorable Body the following petition.
With our present organization we are dissatisfied.
We, are compelled to do duty as field Music and under the command of Captains of Fifers and drummers.
