the Sd. and his and assigns forever, provided always that these presents are upon these express condition, that if the said Joseph Smith, his heirs executors or administrators Shall pay or cause to be paid to the Sd. his heirs executors administrato[rs] or assigns the sum of fifteen hundred dollars to wit: three hundred and seventy on demand; three hundred and seventy six 66/100 dollars in twelve months, three hundred and seventy six 66/100 in two years; and three hundred and seventy six 68/100 dollars in three years from date, together with the interest that may accrue therein in manner Specified, in three notes, bearing even date herewith, executed by the said Joseph Smith to amounting, besides the payment on demand, to Eleven hundred and thirty dollars; then & from thenceforth these presents, & every thing herein contained Shall cease & be void. any thing herein contained to the contrary notwithstanding In Witness my hand and seal

I , a justice of the peace for said , do certify that Joseph Smith whose signature appears to the foregoing mortgage did acknowledge the same to be his free and voluntary act and deed for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. Given under my hand and Seal this 8th day of July. A. D. 1841.
