I, a Justice of the peace, in and for said do certify that and Clarissa his wife, whose signatures appear to the foregoing deed, and who are personally known to me to be the persons described in, and who executed the same, did severally acknowledge that they had executed the said conveyance for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. And the said Clarissa Hancock having been by me made acquainted with the contents of the said Deed, and examined separate and apart from her said , acknowledged that she had executed the same, and relinquished her dower to the premises therein conveyed, voluntarily, freely, and without compulsion of her said . Given under my hand and seal, this twenty first day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three. J. P. L. S.

This Indenture made, and entered into, this nineteenth day of February, in the year our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and forty two, between and his wife, of the County of , and State of , of the one part, and Joseph Smith, Trustee in Trust for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of the county of and aforesaid, of the other part Witnesseth, that the said , and his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of Seventy five dollars, to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant, bargain, sell, convey, and confirm unto the said Joseph Smith, Trustee in Trust his sucessors in office and assigns forever, all that tract or parcel of land, situate and being in the county of , in the State of , viz: one acre of the South East corner of the east end of the South half of the North West quarter of Section thirty six Township seven North and nine West of the base line and fourth principal Meridian; the above named one acre commencing at the South East corner of the aforesaid Lot, and runs West Ten rods, thence North sixteen rods, thence East Ten rods, thence South sixteen rods to the place of beginning. Together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging, or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold the above described premises unto the said Joseph Smith, his successors in office and assigns forever. And the said and his wife, their heirs and assigns, the aforesaid premises, unto the said Joseph Smith, his successors in office and assigns, against the claim or claims of all and every person whomsoever, do and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In testimony whereof, the said , and his wife of the first part, have hereunto set their hands and seals, the day and year above written.
