of the first part, have hereunto set their hands and seals, the day and year above written. L. S. Elizabeth H. Barlow L. S.. Signed, sealed and delivered in presence of [blank] State of Illinois, , ss. I a justice of the peace of said , do certify, that and Elizabeth H. Barlow his wife, whose signatures appear to the foregoing deed, and who are personally known to me to be the persons described in, and who executed the same, did severally acknowledge that they had executed the said conveyance, for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. And the said Elizabeth H. Barlow having been by me made acquainted with the contents of the said Deed, and examined separate and apart from her said , acknowledged that she had executed the same, and relinquished her dower to the premises therein conveyed, voluntarily, freely, and without compulsion of her .

This Indenture made this 5th. day of December 1843 between of the county of in the State of of the one part and William Green of the and aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth that the said for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and fifty dollars to him paid by the said William Green the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, and sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, alien and confirm unto the said William Green, and to his heirs and assigns forever, all that tract or parcel of land, situate in the County of in the State of Two Lots forty two feet each fronting on Water Street bounded as follows. Commencing west forty two feet from the Lot now occupied by Joseph Smith, thence running the length of the Lots which is half the Block, thence East Eighty feet, thence South the half block or depth of Lots now owned by , to have and to hold the premises aforesaid with all the privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining, unto him the said William Green and his heirs and assigns forever. provided always that these presents are upon this express condition that if the said , his heirs, executors or administrators shall pay or cause to be paid to the said William Green his heirs, executors administrators or assigns the sum of one hundred dollars may first 1844, and one hundred and fifty dollars November first 1844, all the above ammount to draw seven per cent int. together with the Interest that may accrue thereon in manner perticularly specified in a certain note or obligation bearing even date herewith executed by the said to the said William Green then and from thenceforth these presents and every thing herein contained [p. 38]
