<General> Court Martial of the
Resolved. That be and is hereby authorized to organize, the Second Battallion, of the First Regiment, Second Cohort, into a Regiment of Light Infantry, to be called, “The Escort Regiment of Light Infantry,” to take place in the Second Cohort according to assignment, on parade days & do such other duties of escort &c. as may be necessary, and that he organize the First Battalion, First Regiment, Second Cohort into a Regiment of Artillery. Approved June 10th 1843.

You are hereby ordered to notify the Battallion which you command to meet at the in front of the , at one o’clock P. M. on Friday the 23rd. inst for the purpose of being organized into a Regiment, and electing a Colonel, Major &c., and to completely organize a Regiment with all the field officers.
