The aforesaid Battalion met according to the orders of and was organized into a Regiment by electing the following officers, to wit
Major was elected Colonel.
Captain was elected Lieutenant Col.
<Capt> was elected Major
The Regiment was numbered the 5th Regt in the line. 2nd Cohort
July 4th 1843 A company was reported, by the to have been organized & attached to the 5th Regt which was placed by the Colonel in the first Battalion and Third Company.
August 1st 1843
Appointed Adjittent George W. Crouse
Sir you are hereby ordered to make out a list of all the noncommissioned officers of the 5th Regiment 2nd Cohort Nauvoo Legion and make report of the same to me within thirty days
