City of July 15th 1844
Whearas Alderman has dealt out Justice towards the police of this in such a nice Mild charitable & christian Like Manner so strictly according to Law, Equty and his oath of office & has so abbly defended them against the abuse and insults so frequently heaped upon them while in the discharge of their duty by a lawless set of Ruffians as in the Case of Jerome Flagg to day
<1st> Resolved therefore unanimously that we will release said from all further duty and no more call upon him to act in any matter of Law or Equity wherein we are Conserned as Policemen
<2nd> Resolved that we are determined to persevere in the discharge of our duty as policmen and bear with Christian patience all further abuse & insults which authoritys may require us to bear untill a remidy can be found for our protection
