23/24 Aug. 1810–9 Sept. 1898. Builder, choir conductor. Born in Champlain, Clinton Co., New York. Son of Stephen G. Goddard and Sylvia Smith. Married first Isabella Bisbee, 14 Nov. 1833, in McDonough, Chenango Co., New York. Moved to Ohio, ca. 1833. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Parley P. Pratt, 27 Feb. 1836, at Cuyahoga Co., Ohio. Moved to Missouri, 1837. Moved to Illinois, 1839. Married second Zeruiah Norwood Roby, 11 Sept. 1839, in Quincy, Adams Co., Illinois. Defendant in State of Illinois v. Goddard, Cahoon, and Riley and State of Illinois v. Goddard, Cahoon, and Riley on Habeas Corpus, Feb. 1843. Migrated to Salt Lake Valley with Brigham Young pioneer company, arriving July 1847. Second conductor of Tabernacle Choir, 1854–1856. Served mission in Canada, 1857–1858. Traveled to the Salt Lake Valley with David Brinton company, arriving 21 June 1858. Died in San Bernardino, San Bernardino Co., California.
